2 Festivals and a new patio

Last week was a BIG week for the Kahlig household. We had 3 major events:

  • We had our back yard patio poured
  • We went to the Plano Ballon Festival
  • We went to Oktoberfest!

The patio is something we've wanted to do for years and we finally found someone who comes highly recommended who gave us a great price. The patio is 15' x 12' with a sidewalk to the gate. Grandma let us use her patio furniture for a while. It needs a bit of a facelift, but it's been good to have. We spent this morning on the porch sitting on those benches while it rained. Molly played in the rain. I'm really looking forward to the fall season this year!

The Plano Balloon Festival was really neat despite the problem Maria and I had with communicating expectations. It rained just as the balloons were planning to lift off, so they cancelled the lift. Since they cancelled the lift, parking and admission was free (WOOHOO!!!). The real treats were the fair food and the "glow" when the sun went down. The "glow" is an event where the balloons are filled with air but do not lift off the ground. They coordinate burning the fires and the balloons all light up for a fantastic effect. Look for the "money" shot of Molly seeing the balloons airing up.

Oktoberfest 2010 was great fun as Oktoberfests always are. Molly was able to ride some of the carnival rides and LOVED it. We ate some fabulous food and tried to drink some great beer... We spilled 2 of the 3 beers that we purchased! I guess that's not bad for having a gigantic stroller, an almost 3 year old and a 4 month old. They allow you to bring your own stein to the festival (need to remember that next year). Spill #1 came when I foolishly let Lucy get a paw on the mug. Spill #2 was when I was trying to be careful by placing the mug on the ground in a safe place and found a way to kick it over anyway. We spent a good amount of time in the tent singing songs and dancing. The tent is ALWAYS crowded and is a great time when the band is playing. We're already looking forward to next year.
